JANUARY — over, but for 2022: New Years Goals, MLK Day

FEBRUARY — over, but for 2022: Valentines’ Day, Presidents Day, February School Vacation; Black History Month

MARCH

  • Women’s History Month
  • St. Patrick’s Day — Wednesday, 3/17
  • First Day of Spring — Saturday, 3/20

APRIL

  • April Fool’s Day — Thursday, 4/1
  • Good Friday — Friday, 4/2
  • Titanic Remembrance Day + Tax Day — Thursday, 4/15
  • Earth Day — Thursday, 4/22
  • Patriots Day — Monday, 4/19 (in Massachusetts)
  • April School Vacation — 4/19–4/23 (in New England)

MAY

  • Kentucky Derby — Saturday, 5/1
  • Mother’s Day — Sunday, 5/9
  • Memorial Day — Monday, 5/31

JUNE

  • World Ocean Day — Tuesday, 6/8
  • Juneteeth — Saturday, 6/19 — MAKE THIS A BIG DEAL, we have a generation to set an example for — consider: Weeklong events, contest, films; Give everyone Friday, 6/18 OFF; Fund community gardens or plant distribution
  • Graduations — Creatively recognize our employees’ kids who may be graduating, after a virtual senior year they deserve some extra love — “Smart New Leaders of [COMPANY NAME]” think local celebrity + catered picnic/delivery
  • Summer Solstice + Father’s Day — Sunday, 6/20

JULY

  • Prepare for the vacation/summer month of August
  • Fourth of July — Consider closing 7/5–7/9 — Encourage people to ALLEVIATE caregivers; spend time with good people, plants, pets + puzzles….and do whatever makes them happy.
  • Bastille Day — Wednesday, 7/14

AUGUST

  • Make this your team fall planning month — don’t bother anyone in August
  • All marketing efforts should be direct mail packages to get people off their devices + enjoy the outdoors. People will remember that you made it easier for them to take care of their family, friends + neighbors.

SEPTEMBER

  • Rosh Hashanah — Monday, 9/6 — Wednesday, 9/8
  • 20th Anniversary of 9/11 — Saturday — What if we made that Friday, 9/10 before a Service Day? We can celebrate firefighters in our communities, + recognize the families still mourning
  • Grandparents Day — Sunday, 9/12
  • Yom Kippur — starts at sunset on Wednesday, 9/15 — Thursday, 9/16
  • Citizenship Day — Friday, 9/17 — recognize the immigrants that contribute to your company + share immigration stories
  • Chinese Moon Festival — Tuesday, 9/21 — make Mooncakes
  • Fall Begins + Full Harvest Moon — Wednesday, 9/22
  • Native American Day — Friday, 9/24

OCTOBER

  • International Day for the Elderly — Friday, 10/1
  • World Teachers’ Day — Tuesday, 10/5
  • Indigenous People’s Day (fmr: Columbus Day) — Monday, 10/10 — it’s important we continue to recognize this long weekend
  • Evaluate Your Life Day — Tuesday, 10/19
  • Halloween — Sunday, 10/31 — consider a delayed start on Monday, 11/1 or give your employees a long weekend

NOVEMBER

  • Dio De Los Muertos — Monday, 11/1 — Tuesday, 11/2
  • Diwali — Thursday, 11/4 — Monday, 11/8 — celebrating “victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance”
  • Veterans’ Day — Thursday, 11/11
  • Caregiver Appreciation Day — Saturday, 11/13
  • Thanksgiving — Thursday, 11/25
  • There are 4 weeks in between Thanksgiving + Christmas — be sure to secure venues + get your Save the Dates out early

DECEMBER

  • World AIDS Awareness Day — Wednesday, 12/1
  • Consider giving your employees the last 2 weeks of December — OFF — 12/20–12/31 — no Slack, no email, no Zoom
  • Winter Solstice — Tuesday, 12/21, shortest day of the year
  • Stay tuned for our Nordic-Inspired Winter Calendar of events — to celebrate the darkest days of the year with your family + friends
